My name is Delaney and I'd like to tell you about my exciting opportunities this year. In April, I was crowned the 2009 Miss Arkansas Preteen National Teenager. As the state titleholder, I have had the chance to make public appearances, make lots of new friends, share my experiences, and promote my passion for Going Green. I have really enjoyed representing my state, the great state of Arkansas!

America's National Teenager has been a great experience for me already. But there is so much more to come. At the end of July, I will be traveling to Nashville, TN, to compete in the national competition. If I win there, I will be “Miss Preteen National Teenager”. How awesome would that be?

Now here is where I need your help. There are lots of expenses involved when going to the national competition level. My family and I have started raising money and saving money, but we have a long way to go! The expenses include: travel, accommodations, event and activity fees, and costumes.

Later this year, I will have the opportunity to travel with other state delegates to places like New York at Christmastime, where we will distribute gifts to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harlem (and be interviewed on the Today show!); San Diego for a beach cleanup project (and a trip to Sea World!); and the Virgin Islands in February. National Teenager is able to offer these trips to delegates and family members for $200 per person (plus transportation), for the entire weekend. Each of these trips allows the opportunity to represent Arkansas while doing community service vital to those areas.
